Are Essiac capsules and tinctures as effective as Essiac Tea?

 

Actually, there is no such thing as "Essiac capsules" or "Essiac tinctures".  Essiac is a tea.  More specifically it is a decoction.  Rene Caisse did not administer Essiac in capsules or as a tincture.  After more than 54 years of experimentation and testing Essiac tea on literally hundreds of cancer patients, Rene Caisse employed Essiac only as a decoction.  The original "old Indian medicine man's" formula was also a tea.  In spite of these facts, many internet companies incorrectly offer "Essiac capsules" or alcohol-based "Essiac tinctures", which only contributes to the confusion about Essiac tea. 

 

Here is what researchers Sheila Snow and Mali Klein about capsules and tinctures:  "Having tried both, we can only say that we choose not to use them.  Rene never considered using the herbs in tincture form as she believed that the traditional boiling method was by far the best method, and the cheapest."  [ESSIAC ESSENTIALS, p. 84]

 

Tinctures use alcohol to extract ingredients from herbs and that creates a different product than a decoction.  Capsules by-pass the normal digestion process which starts in the mouth.
