BEAR WOMAN
She is the elder woman of our Sacred Tree Society little peoples' house. As elder she has the most experience of all the women who are of the house.
She carries a Chanupa which is dedicated to the women's society members’ prayers and ceremonies.
She carries the elder’s staff and speaks for women’s traditions, laws and customs. She is in charge of the moon lodge and the women’s sweat lodge.
She may instruct and if need be carry out discipline for the women of the Society.
In grand council she makes sure all the woman respect and practice all of the laws and customs of the society.
Her ceremonial responsibilities are to prepare, host, and officiate the spring equinox and the autumn equinox two of the four yearly grand councils
She has the power to solicit the help of any society member for assistance with any of her duties.
