SACRED TREE SOCIETY LONGHOUSE
The Longhouse
![]()
Our People have many structures and ways of using them. Traditionally, we have four main long houses in a grand council. The First “little people house” is for the very young and mothers who are caring for them. The next is for older children up to about puberty, presided over by young unmarried adults. The next is the adult house, and the last is elder house. This is as mentioned for council and ceremony of varying degrees of initiation.
For our purposes we will for the time restrict our selves to one house, the little people’s house. This consists of the four clans Crane, Rattle Snake, Salmon and Otter, and two nurturing Clans, Bear Woman and Eagle Man. Ideally three Speakers are Male and three Speakers are Female, with the Speaker for the speaker’s council being either. This will establish a body for legislative procedure, Judicial Process and Executive action within the Sacred Tree Society. The Long house is traditionally the hub of the culture where the ceremonies, traditions, customs and laws of the people
are practiced with great reverence and care; it is the seat of our local “government” and a place of bestowing honor and respect in service to the people of the longhouse. Utmost care should be given to respect all in the longhouse. It is your tribal family that is represented by what you are representing within its walls. Our Community house is part of a body of a greater being and to maintain its health we must have harmony and balance in a peaceful way.
