Mary McPherson Essiac Recipe
Rene Caisse's Essiac formula and recipe from Barbara Kokotsis
The only person that Rene Caisse trusted to make Essiac for cancer patients was her best friend, Mary McPherson. After Rene's death in 1978, Mary McPherson continued to provide Essiac tea to those in need. One of the people who helped provide sheep sorrel leaf, sheep sorrel roots and burdock for Mary McPherson was Barbara Kokotsis.
In the early 1980s Mary McPherson gave Barbara Kokotsis the Essiac recipe that Rene Caisse was using at the end of her life. In February 2013 Mrs. Kokotsis provided this website with a copy of that recipe [below]. In 1994 Mary McPherson recorded an affidavit in the Town of Bracebridge giving this same formula and recipe.
The Essiac recipe below is written in Mary McPherson's handwriting. However, Mrs. Kokotsis wrote the notes, "behind the house", "sour grass" and "to be bought".
